ewing on the primetime drama "dallas." the character was a scheming business cheat, an unfaithful husband, and a larger than life texan. it was all of those qualities that kept viewers tuning in for years. more than 350 million people worldwide tuned in to find out who shot j.r. in 1980. turned out to be his sister-in-law kristen. that success was no big surprise for hagman. he was born into a show biz family. his mom the legendary actress mary martin, but it was a blonde with magic powers that helped propel hagman to star status. he played astronaut tony nelson in the nbc sitcom "i dream of jeannie" for five seasons. after that role came hagman's role of "dallas." years of hard drinking came back to haunt him. he suffered from cirrhosis of the liver and liver cancer. and in july of 1995 he received a transplant that saved his life. this year he starred in season one of the next generation of "dallas" on tnt with some of his original co-stars. he appeared with them on "today" back in june to talk about reprising the role o

very mild here in the middle of the country. 58 in chicago, warmer for thanksgiving day, near 80 in dallas. and down into houston by wednesday, not much to talk about in the east. here comes the storm tracking a bit further to the east, impacting western wyoming and into montana. still expecting rain in san francisco and portland, up into seattle and high elevation snow for the cascades. near 70 in atlanta on wednesday. again, the majority of the country looking quiet. if you have any plans to hit the road the middle of this week. thursday, thanksgiving day, a couple showers will pop up in the heartland ahead of that cold front. we'll start to quiet down finally through parts of the northwest. friday, the cold front all the way down to the plains, spotty showers there. and the front gets off the coast completely by saturday. maybe some interior snow through the high elevations in the northeast. and we have yet another storm coming in to the northwest. can't seem to get a break. keep it right here. get the forecast every weekday morning. at cepacol we've heard people are going to extremes t
